Addiction Counseling Helps The Individual

Addiction counseling is one of the most important aspects of rehab, mostly because it allows the client to figure out why their addiction got to where it did, and how they can prevent it from happening again in the future.

Many times, it is core issues outside of the addiction itself that leads people to drug addiction and alcohol abuse. With counseling, these issues are brought to the surface and addressed in a safe and supported environment.

Clients will get the opportunity to meet one on one with a therapist, and will participate in group counseling sessions daily. It’s a good mix of being able to discuss certain problems one-on-one, and other topics with a group of peers led by addiction counseling specialists. Family counseling allows concerned family members and loved ones to be a part of the recovery process, find out the progress of the addict, and learn skills and ways to cope and help in recovery.

All needs are addressed while at Discovery Institute, so special kinds of counseling services are available for those who have suffered through trauma and other circumstances.
