I served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1982 -1986 and the active reserves from 1986 -1988 when I was honorably discharged. I received my Associates degree from Ocean County College in 1987. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stockton State College in 1989 and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Trenton State College in 1992. In August 2014 I became a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC). I began working at Discovery House in 1989 as a social worker/admissions staff. I became a supervisor in 1992 of one phase of the long-term program. From 1995-1998 I was Director of the ACT program. I held positions for the next couple of years as Clinical Services Director and Director of Administrative Operations. For the next 12 years I was the Residential Director and a long-term program counselor. I then became Director of Clinical Operations for 3 years. Most recently, I was promoted to the position of Executive Director. I am currently pursuing my LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) license and my CCS (Certified Clinical Supervisor) Certificate.
This job has shown me the good in people despite the problems they have dealt with in life. In my almost 27 years at Discovery, I have come to realize that there is always a good person inside of everyone, despite some f the behaviors that might not have been good. It is always inspiring to see what people can overcome and go on to lead productive, happy lives. The best part of my job is when I meet ex-clients in the so-called “real world” and they simply say “thank you” for all you did for me and my family at Discovery.
