About Kaitlin Deitz

Kaitlin graduated from Montclair State University’s Master’s in Counseling program on the addiction track in 2013. Kaitlin was hired by her internship site upon graduation as a primary counselor for the intensive outpatient treatment program. She also worked in co-occurring partial care and outpatient relapse prevention treatment programs. In 2016, Kaitlin retuned to Montclair State University to pursue her PhD in Counseling, specializing in research about ethical treatment and supervision in addiction counseling programs. In 2018, Kaitlin obtained her Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) and shifted roles with her employer. She began working as a case manager for a new initiative, Support Team for Addiction Recovery (STAR), in Monmouth County providing case management services and community outreach for individuals with opioid use disorders.

Kaitlin is now the supervisor of outpatient services at Discovery Institute. She believes that motivating and empowering clients is critical to promoting change behaviors to enhance recovery. She approaches counseling from a client-centered approach and views it as a collaborative process. Kaitlin is passionate about the work she does with the substance use population and is grateful for the opportunity to impact lives in her daily work.
